Leo,I just finished your book, it took me about a week, but that’s just because I have a million things going on right now, but everyday that I read it, I couldn’t put it down. Knowing your family (I grew up with your sister and we attended all of the same Schools together). I also grew up across the street from your cousins Mike, Billy and Brian. I mention all of this because I knew from the minute that I picked up your book, how high the integrity runs in your family’s bloodline. You were tested over and over again, you were doubted by a few bosses and you were in some vicarious situations and your true dedication, honesty and loyalty to yourself, your family, the community in which you served and the job, never waivered.Having come on the job in February of 1994 myself, while not familiar with the specifics, I recall the 30 Pct arrests like it was yesterday. Bratton’s picture holding up the disgraced badges was etched into my mind as a rookie cop. I knew where I came from, my family’s integrity, so I knew that I would never wind up like them, but I also hoped that I would never encounter the situations as you had to endure with the leader of the raiders for such a long time. Those were clearly taxing on your mental, physical well-being and your career.Those that read, have their own little quirks. I, for example, am not a fan of fiction and other than a few mandated books in school, 90% of what I read is non-fiction. That being said, your book is captivating, raw, realistic, honest and a great read for those in both the public and private sector. You make it easy to follow and more important, a good writer makes the reader feel as though they are right there with you as you write about each scenario and you truly accomplished that. I have no doubt that your writing was cathartic, as I am finding that out myself. This book should be a requirement of every recruit, in every police academy in this country, I have no doubt that it would save some officers’ careers. Congratulations again on a great book and I am happy to promote it to hundreds of other cops.Dave Kryger
